Jaroslav (Yogi) Svejkovsky

Program Director and Founder

Yogi comes from a hockey dedicated family. His father was a

professional goaltender and professional coach while his

sister is a former national team player for the Czech women’s

national team.

In their footsteps Yogi became a world class hockey player

and following his early retirement in the NHL due to injury he

turned his focus onto coaching more then 15 years ago.

Yogi’s Playing Career

Four seasons in the NHL prior to retiring due to concussions at age 24 (Capitals,

Lightning)

Washington Capitals record holder (rookie scoring 4 goals in single NHL game)

NHL first round draft pick, 17th overall 1996

AHL rookie of the year

Member AHL All-star

Member WHL All-star

Former Czech National Junior Team Player under 17, 18, and 20

Yogi's Coaching Career

Current WHL skill coach with the Vancouver Giants (13th consecutive season)

Assistant coach with the 2007 WHL Champion (Vancouver Giants)

Head of Hockey at St. George’s Hockey Program (Program operates 3 teams in the

prestigious CSSHL)

St. George’s E-15 Head Coach 

Captured a championship at Bantam level at 5 major Bantam Tournaments in the

Western Canada (St. Albert’s John Reid Memorial, Calgary’s Rocky Mountain Classic,

Former Chilliwack International Bantam tournament, Kibiht tournament and Medicine

Hat Hounds tournament

Hockey Canada High Performance and USA Hockey certified coach

One of a few Skill development specialist who helps to develop of current NHL

players but also works daily with young aspiring minor hockey players of all ages 

European and North American trained

Also helped to build: Seafair Minor Hockey Program, South Delta Secondary Hockey

Academy , Delta Hockey Academy Bantam Prep program, Hockey Talent Academy (Czech

Republic) and Redbull Salzburg skills program (Austria)
